Eave & Soffit Hardening
Open eaves create a pocket where heat and embers can be trapped against the underside of the roof structure. Enclosing eaves and sealing gaps removes that pocket and closes a common path into the attic.

Common eave work
- Enclosing open eaves with noncombustible soffit material
- Sealing gaps at rafter tails, blocking and roof-to-wall junctions
- Replacing or screening soffit vents
- Addressing deteriorated wood fascia and trim
- Checking for gaps at the roof edge and drip edge
Frequently paired with vent work
Because soffit vents live in the eave, homeowners commonly bundle eave enclosure with an ember-resistant vent retrofit and roof-edge cleanup as a single project.
